Duration:  8 Months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Devatop Centre for Africa Development(www.devatop.org) is a human rights and anti-human trafficking organization driving civic technology solutions to protect and promote human rights. One of our flagship initiatives, the TALKAM Human Rights Initiative, uses the TALKAM App (www.talkam.app) to increase citizen participation in reporting human rights abuses, improve digital case management, providing human rights online courses and connect victims with support services.

We are seeking a young dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Officer to lead and coordinate our fundraising and partnership strategies, including the launch of the TALKAM Human Rights Supporters Program.

Key Responsibilities

  •   Grant & Proposal Development: Spearhead the organization’s grant writing initiatives and drive the development and submission of high-quality proposals.
  • Coordinate Resource Mobilization Strategy: Lead the design, planning, and implementation of effective resource mobilization and fundraising strategies for the TALKAM Human Rights Initiative and the organization in general
  • Launch & Drive the TALKAM Human Rights Supporters Program: Develop and implement strategies to mobilize institutional, individual, and corporate supporters for the initiative.
  • Campaigns & Fundraising Events: Coordinate digital and on-ground fundraising campaigns, donor outreach events, and awareness drives.
  • Engage Private Sector & CSR Opportunities: Pitch and liaise with private sector organizations to adopt the TALKAM Human Rights Initiative(www.talkam.app) as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
  • Engagement of Development Partners/Donors: Pitch to development partners to support TALKAM Human Rights Initiative and other organizations in general
  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with donor agencies, foundations, companies, philanthropists, and individuals.
  • Support Program Implementation: Work collaboratively with the program team to support the implementation, monitoring, and scaling of project activities.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular reports, concept notes, grant, proposals, presentations, and documentation of fundraising outcomes and progress.

Other Duties: Perform any other tasks and responsibilities assigned by DEVATOP’s leadership team.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, Communications, Marketing, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related field
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in Business Development, fundraising, resource mobilization (grant writing, etc), and partnership engagement.
  • Proven track record of developing successful fundraising strategies and securing funds from institutional donors, private sector, or individual donors.
  • Strong communication, proposal writing, and pitching skills.
  • Experience in organizing campaigns, events, and donor engagement activities.
  • Familiarity with civic space, civic tech, and nonprofit sector dynamics in Nigeria/Africa.
  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Targets:

  • Design and launch the TALKAM Supporters Program by Month 3.
  • Enroll at least 20 individual supporters and 20 corporate supporters (private sectors) providing support for the initiative.
  • Organize at least 2 major digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Secure funding from at least 3 development partners by Year-End.
  • Establish at least 10 new partnerships (across foundations, agencies, companies, philanthropists).
  • Collaborate with the program team on relevant project implementations or scale-up activities across the year.
  • Prepare and submit at least 5 high-quality grant proposals
  • Provide responsive support for leadership-assigned tasks.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly leadership and planning meetings.
