On 12 December 2025, a renewed sense of hope and possibility filled the room as survivors of abuse, exploitation, and violence gathered for the Survivors Empowerment Program hosted by Devatop Centre for Africa Development. The forum was designed as a safe and dignified space to support survivors on their journey toward healing, resilience, and economic independence.
The program brought together survivors, frontline responders, and community advocates for meaningful engagement focused on recovery, empowerment, and long-term stability. Through open dialogue and interactive sessions, participants explored themes of emotional wellness, personal safety, skill development, and access to vital referral services, all aimed at strengthening survivors’ capacity to rebuild their lives with confidence.
A major highlight of the event was the distribution of essential care packs and empowerment materials, thoughtfully provided to address both immediate needs and long-term aspirations. These items served not only as practical tools but also as powerful symbols of renewed opportunity and encouragement for survivors determined to move forward.
In total, 21 survivors received direct empowerment support tailored to their individual goals and ongoing livelihood or educational pursuits. Five survivors were supported with hairdressing tools, four received cooking tools, two were provided with beauty equipment, and another two received tailoring machines. One survivor was empowered with chemicals for soap-making, while seven survivors received educational support to further their personal and professional development. Altogether, 21 empowerment kits were distributed, ensuring each beneficiary received resources aligned with their pathway toward economic stability.
The successful implementation of the forum and the empowerment support was made possible through the generous backing of the Foreign Aid Bridge Fund, hosted and managed by Panorama Global. Their support enabled Devatop to expand its reach and strengthen its ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and support survivors in meaningful, sustainable ways.
Speaking during the program, Devatop reaffirmed its commitment to a survivor-centered approach that goes beyond rescue to include long-term empowerment and self-reliance. The organization emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts with partners, communities, and institutions to create safer environments where survivors can heal, thrive, and reclaim their futures.
Through initiatives like the Survivors Empowerment Program, Devatop continues to demonstrate that true recovery is built on dignity, opportunity, and sustained support — ensuring survivors are not only protected but empowered to shape their own paths forward.
