DEVATOP Supports School Enrollment of Vulnerable Children and Child Domestic Workers in Lagos and Abuja

Devatop Center for African Development (DEVATOP) implemented a targeted education support intervention aimed at improving access to schooling for vulnerable children and child domestic workers in Lagos and Abuja.
Through this intervention, nine (9) vulnerable children and child domestic workers were successfully enrolled in schools and supported with essential educational materials, including school supplies needed for effective learning and participation in classroom activities. The support addressed key barriers such as limited financial resources, lack of learning materials, and restricted access to formal education, which often prevent vulnerable children from enrolling or remaining in school.
The initiative was guided by a child-centered and protection-focused approach, recognizing education as both a fundamental right and a critical safeguard against exploitation, abuse, and long-term vulnerability. By facilitating school enrollment and providing learning materials, the intervention contributed to improved learning continuity, stability, and wellbeing for participating children.
Implementation was carried out in collaboration with schools and local child protection stakeholders to ensure ethical enrollment processes and appropriate placement based on each child’s needs. In addition to material support, the intervention strengthened pathways for ongoing mentorship and monitoring to encourage school retention.
This impactful intervention was made possible through the Foreign Aid Bridge Fund, hosted and managed by Panorama Global.
Through this initiative, Devatop Center for African Development continues to advance inclusive education and child protection efforts, enabling vulnerable children and child domestic workers to access safe learning environments and build foundations for a more secure future.
