Position: Human Resources (HR) Assistant

Location: Abuja

Duration: One year (with possibility for extension)

 

Role Overview

The HR Assistant will support the coordination of the Human Resources Department at Devatop Centre for Africa Development. This role is designed for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can handle essential HR tasks efficiently while the organization operates with limited resources. The HR Assistant will ensure smooth HR processes in recruitment, staff records, staff development, performance support, and staff welfare.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date staff records, files, and HR database.
  • Support recruitment processes (advertising vacancies, scheduling interviews, and coordinating onboarding).
  • Assist in drafting contracts, offer letters, and HR-related documents.
  • Track staff attendance, leave, and timesheets.
  • Support implementation of HR policies and staff welfare initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing training, capacity-building sessions, and staff development activities.
  • Support performance appraisal processes in collaboration with the senior management.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with labor laws and organizational policies.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of relevant HR/administrative experience (NGO experience is an advantage).
  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict resolution skill
