Devatop Holds Talent Discovery Mentorship Clinic for Child Domestic Workers in Lagos State

Devatop Centre for Africa Development held the third Mentorship Clinic Session for Child Domestic Workers (CDWs) in Adosoba Community, Lagos, on June 19, 2026. The activity was implemented under the programme to address exploitative child domestic work in Lagos State, supported by the Freedom Fund with funding from the U.S. Department of State.

The session brought together 17 child domestic workers and focused on Talent Discovery, with the aim of helping participants identify their natural abilities, skills, and talents while exposing them to various career opportunities they can aspire to in the future.

The session was facilitated by Mrs. Blessed Ahmed-Musa, who led an engaging career talk on the importance of envisioning a brighter future, setting career goals, and working diligently towards achieving them. She encouraged the children to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams with determination and purpose.

To make the session interactive and impactful, participants took part in a variety of practical exercises designed to help them explore different career paths and discover their interests. Through these activities, the children were exposed to diverse professions, enabling them to develop a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them and inspiring them to dream beyond their current circumstances.

The mentorship clinic provided a supportive learning environment where the children were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, build confidence in their abilities, and begin mapping out pathways toward a successful and fulfilling future.

By helping participants recognize their talents and understand the possibilities available to them, the session contributed to their personal development and inspired them to work towards achieving their aspirations.
