STOP EXPLOITATIVE CHILD DOMESTIC WORK – 2025 PROJECT REPORT
About the Project
The “Protect Child Domestic Workers From Maltreatment Pilot Project in Nigeria,” implemented by Devatop Centre for Africa Development and funded by the Freedom Fund, focused on addressing the exploitation and abuse of child domestic workers (CDWs) in Lagos State. The project utilized a multi-level intervention model targeting children, households, communities, institutions, and policy actors to achieve the following aims:

Strengthen community-based protection systems and build the capacity of community influencers.

Enhance community awareness, foster behavioral change, and empower child domestic workers through mentorship and education.
The project implemented several key activities, including community influencer training, child mentorship clinics, CDW and guardian forums, and school sensitizations. Additional efforts featured public commemorations like the World Day Against Child Labour, stakeholder advocacy discussions, press briefings, participatory radio programs, advocacy visits, and structured interactions with survivors. Through these initiatives, the project successfully reached hundreds of students, community members, guardians, and key stakeholders, distributing educational materials and establishing local CDW forums to foster safer, more supportive environments for vulnerable children.
