Community Influencers Strengthen Child Protection Efforts at Review Meeting
On February 17, 2026, community influencers working under the Child Domestic Work (CDW) project convened for a strategic review meeting at Frankie’s Amusement Park. The gathering brought together thirty-eight (38) participants—13 males and 25 females—with a shared commitment to advancing child protection efforts at the grassroots level.
The meeting supported by Freedom Fund served as a platform to assess progress, exchange experiences, and strengthen the capacity of influencers actively working within their communities. Participants shared real-life intervention stories, highlighting both the challenges encountered and the impact of their efforts in addressing cases of child abuse and exploitation.
A key focus of the session was building a deeper understanding of the various forms of maltreatment affecting children. Influencers were guided on how to identify physical, emotional, and psychological abuse, as well as neglect and exploitation. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of proper documentation and adherence to established reporting procedures to ensure accountability and effective case management.
Participants were encouraged to remain proactive and dedicated, with facilitators reinforcing that protecting children is a shared responsibility that requires consistent action and collaboration. The meeting further underscored the importance of raising safeguarding awareness across key community spaces, including markets, schools, religious centres, and social gatherings.
To enhance their effectiveness and credibility, influencers recommended the provision of formal identification materials. This, they noted, would not only improve their safety but also strengthen trust and cooperation within the communities they serve.
The session concluded with a renewed commitment to consistent reporting, increased visibility, and sustained grassroots engagement. These efforts are expected to further strengthen community-based child protection systems and ensure that vulnerable children are better protected from abuse and exploitation.
