school sensitization program at Fazil Omar Ahmadiyyah Nursery/Primary schools in Okoko community,

Devatop Centre for Africa Development conducted a school sensitization program on Wednesday 30th/9/26, at Fazil Omar Ahmadiyyah Nursery/Primary schools 1, 2, and 3, in Okoko community, reaching a total of 80 pupils across the three schools.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Noreen, a community Liaison Assistant (CLA), who introduced the team members and provided a brief overview of Devatop Centre for Africa development. She further explained the purpose of the sensitization programme and educated the pupils on their fundamental rights, including the right to play, education , protection, healthcare and a safe environment.

Noreen also explained who Child Domestic Workers (CDWs) are and discussed the various forms of abuse they may experience. She emphasized the importance of reporting abuse to trusted adults , such as school counsellors, teachers or the Head of School (HM).

The pupils were also sensitised on their fundamental rights, the dangers of drug abuse and its potential negative effects on their health, education, and future. They were encouraged to resist peer pressure, make positive choices , and build their self- confidence.

 

The teachers and students of Fazil Omar Ahmadiyyah (FOA) warmly received the team and demonstrated great hospitality throughout the sensitization program. Also, The sensitization session was well received with the pupils actively participating throughout the session and demonstrating an improved understanding of children’s right through the pin point game . The teachers and the school counsellors also showed great enthusiasm by collecting some of the curriculum materials provided, expressing their willingness to use them to further educate and engage the children regularly.
